Joomla! Day 18 October 2008 held in Johannesburg
I joined other members of the Joomla! community, organizers, sponsors and speakers in Johannesburg for a very successful day, hosted at Mortimer Harvey’s auditorium.
Presentations covered aspects of Resources, Internet Marketing, Extensions, Templating and Security aspects. It was clear throughout the day that Speakers took great care in compiling presentations to accommodate different levels of Joomla! understanding, background, level of expertise and keeping topics fresh. Case studies gave depth and understanding of Joomla! implementation of existing websites. Aspects of clients needs, internet environment and future website trends, gave insight on future Joomla! developments. Tea and lunch times were used extensively for sharing of experiences, information and networking. Why go to a Joomla! Day? |

We all have the desire and the need to generate income. This website is intended to give you a look at what I found available to novices, who want to start their own website. Whether you have an established business or starting up a business, the Internet environment is a tool you should not overlook. Technology continues to advance at a staggering rate and the Internet environment is no different. More people access the Internet and more people have a presence there.
Many paths are available to creating and marketing your website. The information on this website uses a number of these and is by no means comprehensive or intended to be. Caution should not be thrown to the wind and common sense substituted by blindly following any advice, suggestions or testimonials.
I decided to be involved with the entire process of my website from concept to publishing.
My route started with Open Source software and Joomla! Content Management System to build the website. No need to have programming skills as there are plenty of tutorials and books available on the Internet.
If you don't want to get that involved with building the website. There are other website builder software available which don't require the same level of involvement as Joomla.
The domain name of your website is important and the extension you're going to use e.g. .com, .net, .co.za and so on. A number of domain registrars offer name search and or name suggestions. Some offer hosting packages as well. You need to shop around and evaluate what's on offer.
A number of business owners and community organisations however decide to outsource the website development.
